Marvin at the Strip Mall

Breaking out of tradition is nothing new for Marvin. Here drawing on the creative power of God, he preaches the Gospel through song and Chick tracts in a Long Island strip mall. Buy a bagel, drop off your dry cleaning and hear the Gospel--fun for the whole family.

Ugh, chick tracts? Marvin, you've become a crazy! The only people who respond well to strip mall tract evangelism are people who are already "saved" in the first place. To everyone else you're just an annoyance and a crazy and you're turning them away from the Lord.

Seriously Marvin, this is not the best way to share the Gospel. Chick tracts are nasty, unforgiving, and if you want my laymans opinion, unchristian, too.

By the way, what happened to your last prophesy? Where's your wife? Obviously it wasn't Soon, so where is she?

Willie, I need to get Marvin one of your FreeZ "tracts". I am sure he will soundly rebuke you in Jesus' name, but hey, it's worth a shot.

When I was a fundamentalist, charismatic, evangelical, conservative, Republican, I adored Chick tracts. I used them all the time. They seemed gutsy, hard hitting, honest, at least to my world view at the time.

I never got into the violently anti-Catholic ones though. My sweet grandmother did not seem like an agent of Satan.

Oh my! I'm with Willie on this one. Singing outdoors for the Lord and distributing materials puts you on par with suit-wearing, megaphone-blasting, hellfire and brimstone streetcorner preachers. Not very effective. How about switching over to Friendship Evangelism? :-)

Marvin, I have to say, that as a Christian, I find the Chick tracts quite offensive. If I was a non Christian they would turn me off even more. Have you read the ones dealing with homosexuality which show gays to be pedophiles and evil violent people? These tracts twist things and misrepresent gays in my opinion.

Jerry
